The vehicle was first showcased at the Chicago Auto Show in Feb 2014[76] where Kia said the Soul EV will be offered in California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey, and Maryland. Kia is targeting regions with the largest EV markets and infrastructure, and plans to offer the Soul EV in other markets in the almost future.[77]

On Nov 21, 2018, Kia Motors released teaser pictures of the new Soul. In addition, it was confirmed that the Soul will be offered with a 2.0 Fifty I4 or a 1.half-dozen L turbo-four engine. A rugged 10-Line trim will also be added to the Soul'due south trim options.[85] According to Kia, this version of the Soul volition have two options for four-cylinder engines.
